Hello & thank you for choosing me to document such a special season in your life! As we prepare for your session, here is some information about what to expect:
First things first: Please email or text/call me within 24 hours of birth so that we can get your newborn session scheduled! Please remember to fill this questionnaire out before baby is born if possible 🙂
Important tips to help your newborn session run smoothly:
-Try to keep baby awake for at least 1-2 hours before the session. This will ensure they sleep so we can get those adorable sleepy images!
-If your baby uses a pacifier, have it on hand.
Feedings: I always build extra time into the session for feeding breaks if necessary. However, in order to help the session go as smoothly as possible, I ask that you either feed baby right before the session or arrive a bit early to feed baby here so that we can get started photographing your new little one right away.
Wardrobe: Clothing choices play a huge role in the overall feel and tone of your photos. I offer a client closet with lots of maxi dresses that look great for newborn sessions. If you’d like to borrow a dress, just let me know!
For mom, I recommend a long lace/silk robe, maxi dress or flowing top/kimono as these look natural to the environment and photograph well for newborn sessions. You will want to avoid bright tones as it can create unnatural skin tones on baby due to the color cast. Please also stay away from loud, busy patterns, logos, and dark colors. Most importantly, you want to feel comfortable and confident in whatever you end up choosing.
For baby, don’t worry about styling baby if you don’t want to, I will have swaddles that coordinate with each set for the session.
For Dad, go simple and casual! A fitted pair of jeans or chino shorts with a neutral v-neck or henley t-shirt always looks great.
Props from home: If you have special heirlooms, outfits or other things you’d like to include in the session, let me know!
